"Latin American Chronicles" Concerto for Clarinet and Symphony Orchestra
WDR Funkhausorchester Koln, Germany
Wayne Marshall, conductor
Andy Miles, clarinet
"Latin American Chronicles for Clarinet and Orchestra" was inspired by images of my life in South America and the United States, and the possibilities offered by the sound and virtuoso playing of Andy Miles and the WDR Funkhausorchester under Wayne Marshall.
Movement 1: “Panorámicas," built on folk rhythms from the pampas, takes on a cinematic feel as it suggests a bird’s eye view of the valleys and mountains of Argentina and Chile.
Movement 2: “Diálogos" is a slow and emotional Andean dance, a conversation between ancient souls.
Movement 3: “Influencias” is a celebration of different cultures coming together in music. Here, an Afro-Peruvian theme becomes an exuberant jazz explosion.
Think of "Latin American Chronicles" as a personal album, told in music.
